My Experience & Teaching Levels: 

Teaching has always been a part of me, since I graduated from a teacher-training university in China in 2003, I have been teaching for more than 15 years. I enjoy talking and sharing ideas with my students, I am interested in learning new technology to use in my teaching and help my students learn better and more efficiently. 

I am a qualified language teacher who has considerable experience of teaching H.E Chinese across different levels and age groups. My students are from absolute beginners right up to advanced level students. I also have considerable experience in tutoring students for many major Mandarin exams: HSK, A Level, GCSE. All of my students have achieved excellent scores (90% above)! As a university teacher, I am very experienced in preparing students for mandarin degree exams: my existing students achieve distinction every year.

My Teaching Methods:  

I use a range of pedagogical materials and methods to help make learning fast, effective and fun! During my lessons, you are not only learning language, but also experiencing the Chinese culture. I give my beginner students a very good foundation of learning Chinese Pinyin (great pronunciation) and using my own strategy to teach Chinese characters. I can explain tricky grammar points and other aspects of language for my advanced level students, as well as provide suitable activities to consolidate and practice this language. I have a particular interest in Online Learning/teaching and the pedagogical applications of technology, such as using Quizlet for students to learn vocabulary; creating quizzes via Socrative for students to practise reading skills; and using and designing quizzes via Goggle Form to help students review grammar points as well as listening skills.

My hobbies and interests:  

I enjoy reading, crafting (knitting and sewing), hiking with family in woodlands and countryside, cooking and baking, traveling, gardening and being with my family and friends ... 

Reading is the hobby which i can do everyday. I like reading in the mornings, it is quiet and i can concentrate better. I read different types of books, mainly non-fiction. When I have free time I usually do some knitting or sewing or gardening or going for a walk in the afternoon depending on weather. I love going out for walks with my family as well as chatting and drinking tea with my friends. I cook a lot of East Asian food, and share them with my family, friends and neighbors and their enjoyment of the food makes me happy. I love traveling with my family whenever we have time and money, we have been to dozens of cities and countries in the world. Traveling makes me understand the world better, and have more empathy with people. It can also help you find yourself. In Chinese, we have an idiom saying: 行千里路，读万卷书 which shows reading and traveling are indispensable for one to achieve true wisdom.
